Reception Starters

Starting school is a very exciting milestone for both children and families. We understand that it can bring a mixture of excitement, curiosity, and perhaps a few nerves too. Please be assured that our aim is to make the transition into Reception as happy, positive, and seamless as possible for every child.

The Reception year is a wonderful time of learning, discovery, and growth. Through play, exploration, and new experiences, children will develop confidence, independence, friendships, and a love of learning that will support them throughout their school journey.

Below is some information from the Starting Reception initiative, a national resource developed to support families as children prepare to start school. The guidance provides practical tips and activities to help children develop the confidence, independence, communication skills, and healthy routines that will support a successful transition into Reception. We encourage families to explore the resources together and remember that every child develops at their own pace.
